Preview Using Local Server (Windows only) allows you to choose whether to use a local server when you preview a page in a browser. (You must be running server software on your local computer for this option to work.) When this option is selected, Dreamweaver supplies the current page for previewing by a local server as a URL beginning with http://localhost/. With this option deselected, Dreamweaver opens the document in a browser with a file path beginning with file://. In some cases, links specified as site-root-relative paths do not work correctly when opened in a browser with a file:// path.
